SUBSURFACE | APPLIED PHYSICS

Our subsurface research explores advanced methods for understanding geological and buried environments without relying exclusively on conventional exploration approaches. The work sits at the intersection of geoscience, sensing, applied physics, mathematical interpretation and computational analysis.

The deeper technical problem concerns inference from weak, distributed and frequently non-unique physical observables produced by complex heterogeneous media. This requires treatment of ill-conditioned inverse problems, spatial covariance, field perturbations, noise statistics, model regularization and multi-parameter reconstruction where the measured quantity may bear only an indirect relationship to the physical structure of interest.

Rather than treating subsurface intelligence as a single-instrument problem, our work investigates how physics, sensing, numerical modelling and computational inference can be combined into broader information architectures for geological characterization and resource-oriented decision support.
